However, the fastest way to get there is flying directly into Daniel Oduber International Airport. Around 40 flights arrive every week from the United States through four different airlines. Flying from San Jose City via charter services is also a good idea, since it saves you about three hours on the road and the low rates make it quite affordable. Liberia is located at the heart of northern Guanacaste and the road forks a hundred times taking you to the numerous beaches located in the region, so take your pick and enjoy the ride.
The mounts at Hermosa beach raise your heels just high enough to give you the most amazing panoramic view of the ocean. Down on the shore, white sand meets blue waters and mild waves invite you in for a splash. Central Pacific Coast
Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast is a tropical playground, year-round. Its evergreen forests and sandy beaches provide a unique setting. The Central Pacific region is a distinct geographical region, a thin, virtually ruler-straight coastal plain narrowing to the southeast and backed by steep sided mountains. The coastal is lined by long gray-sand beaches. The region is a transition zone between the tropical dry forest of the north pacific and the wet forests of the nearby south pacific coast. Despite the fact that the region's protected areas are among the smallest in the country, they are vibrant habitats alive with an amazing variety of flora and fauna. These pristine green zones provide sanctuary for many endangered species.
The two most well - know areas, Carara Biological Reserve and Manuel Antonio National Park, are readily accessible natural laboratories that nature lovers will enjoy immensely. There is a lot to do along this part of Costa Rica's Pacific Coast , and not all of it has to do with beaches and water. The rivers and mountains behind the beaches hold a wealth of activities for the adventurous traveler.

The southern coast, renown for its beauty, is one of the more remote areas of Costa Rica. The last Pacific lowland rainforest of sustainable size in Central America is found in Corcovado National Park. Corcovado has been called "The most biologically intense place on earth" by no less an authority than the National Geographic Society. Also, Caño Island offers some or the best snorkeling in Costa Rica.
The best time to visit the area is during the months of January through April when is little rain. But if you don't mind a downpour, the blooms and the lush green of the forest will more than compensate for any dampness.
An hour's flight from San José will transport you to another world. Top-notch resort operate out of the area and specialize in given personalized adventure tours. Diving, snorkeling, hiking and bird watching are ideal for the true exploration of a country.
The traveler will find a variety of lodging in the area offering efficient and friendly service.
